BUMBLEBEES or POLAR BEARS

2 years - 2 years and 11 months

The Bumblebees class is for children who are between the ages of 2 years - 2 years and 11 months. This class offers a great opportunity to gently introduce your child to preschool. The Bumblebees and Polar Bears meet Monday- Friday 9:00am- 12:00pm. Hours can be extended until 1:00pm by adding our optional extended program may choose 2, 3 or 5days per week. The 2-day option meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays; the 3-day option meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Home visits are offered as an optional part of the program for first-time preschoolers to ensure a successful and smooth transition into the program. Children do not need to be potty-learned; potty learning is offered as part of this class. Children who signs of readiness will be given the proper support and encouragement.

PM options for both:

Until 1:00 (Transitional Spanish) This program allows children to extend their day a little bit longer without having to give up their nap. It also introduces children to the Spanish language.

BLUE JAYS & SEA LIONS

3 years by August 1st

This class is for children who are at least 3 years old by August 1st. The class meets Monday- Friday from 9:00am- 12:00pm. Parents may choose 2, 3, 4, or 5 days options. The 2-day option meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays; the 3-day option meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. 4-day enrollment is limited and depends on availability. Hours can be extended until 1:30pm by adding our optional extended program or until 3:00 by adding the Spanish Immersion program.  Potty learning will be introduced and encouraged for children who are ready to move beyond diapers.

Blue Jays or Sea Lions | 3 years

PEA PODS

3 years and 6 months - 6 years

This is our older preschool program for children who are 3 ½ by August 1st. This class provides a nurturing and challenging environment with a stronger academic focus. This class meets Monday- Friday from 9:00am- 12:00pm. Children must be enrolled in all five days. The morning program can be extended until 1:00pm by adding our optional Extended Day Program. The DK component will be combined with the Spanish immersion program. The program hours are from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Pea Pods who are four years old by August 1 are required to participate in the program.

SPANISH IMMERSION PROGRAM:

LOS KOALITAS (Younger Program)

Ages: 2 - 3.6 yrs

The younger Spanish Immersion program is for children ages 2 - 3.6 yrs or age. This class meets Monday through Friday from 12:00pm- 3:00pm. Children who are enrolled in our morning program may also enroll in the Koalitas class in the afternoons.  Enrolling all five days is strongly recommended for families who want their child to gain fluency and mastery of the language. Children will be immersed in a cultural preschool experience through music, art, movement, storytelling, and other meaningful day-to-day activities.

Due to the hours of this program, it will only be available to children who do not nap. The program will be available to children who are enrolled in the morning program as well as to those who are not. For children who are enrolled in the morning program, discounted rates will be offered if adding the Spanish Immersion class. 

LOS KOALAS/DK (Older Program)

Ages: 3.6 yrs & up

This program is for children ages 3.6 yrs & up. Children are required to enroll in all five days if they are in their last year of preschool. This program also offers a focus on Kindergarten readiness while learning and mastering the Spanish language.

Both programs are a true immersion; this means that the children will be spoken to only in Spanish while in class. Studies have shown that it's during this critical age that preschool children are able to absorb a second language with ease. Mastering the language will depend on the type of learner your child is and his/her exposure to the language. There are two main types of language learners: simultaneous and sequential.

A simultaneous learner is a child who has exposure to both languages at home. A child who has been cared for by someone who speaks the languages since he/she was born and is spoken to consistently will most likely be this type of learner. This child can most likely decode and switch from one language to the other without having to "translate" or put forth additional mental effort.

A sequential learner is a child who has had very little or no exposure to the second language. This child will learn his/her primary language and master it first, and then will make the necessary adaptations to accommodate a second vocabulary as well as the syntax (grammar) of the new language. This child will usually take a little longer to be able to produce the second language because he/she is processing one language first and then the second one. However, if exposed at an early age he/she will be able to master it and produce it the same as a simultaneous learner.

Monday - Friday | 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

PANDAS

3 months - 30 months | Infant/Toddler & Me

These classes are for children ages 3 months and up and attend with their parent or other caretaker. Following Green Beginning's non-judgmental approach rooted in RIE* ideas, parents and caretakers are provided with a safe, rich, and supportive community to share in parenting experiences and receive invaluable guidance and tools to use in their parenting journey. All classes include floortime, parenting discussions, education in RIE philosophy, and more!

We offer both infant classes and toddler classes. The infant classes are geared towards children who are not yet walking, while the toddler classes are geared towards children who are able to walk on their own. 

Please note that the Infant/Toddler & Me program is open to the community and it does not follow the same admission process as the preschool. Parent-and-Me classes run from September through June.  All parents pursuing preschool enrollment must attend a preschool tour even if they are currently enrolled in this program.  Enrollment in the Infant/Toddler & Me program does not guarantee admission into the preschool program but it does offer enrollment priority over the general community.
